Finance & Accounting Manager

Reports to: CFO
Buffalo Solar is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to own and perform the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions for Buffalo Solar and its affiliated companies.
This is a hands-on accounting role in a growing, project-based business. This position will perform the daily accounting work while also owning WIP, revenue recognition, month-end close, and preparation of financial reporting for the CFO and leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Own project accounting, WIP, revenue recognition, job costing, and project profitability reporting.
- Perform the full accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including entering bills, creating customer invoices, applying payments, processing vendor payments, collections, and account reconciliation.
- Own the month-end close, including reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of accurate financial statements.
- Prepare cash-flow reporting, forecasts, financial reports, and KPIs for CFO and leadership review.
- Maintain accurate accounting across Buffalo Solar and affiliated entities, including intercompany activity, financial controls, and accounting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience preferred.
- Experience with project-based accounting, WIP, revenue recognition, and job costing strongly preferred.
- Construction, EPC, engineering, contracting, or similar project-based industry experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, and financial statements.
- Strong Excel skills; QuickBooks Online experience preferred.
- Comfortable being hands-on with transactional accounting while also preparing higher-level financial reporting.
- Highly organized, analytical, and able to independently own the accounting function.
This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys being close to the numbers and is ready to take ownership of the accounting function while growing toward a Controller-level role as the organization scales.
