The City of Collinsville is seeking applicants for a full-time, non-exempt Finance Associate. This position is a fast-paced, customer-facing role that works directly with team members and a variety of City Departments, to provide a wide range of services to Collinsville City Hall customers. Here in Collinsville, the ideal candidate for this position will be self-motivated, highly organized, eager to learn, with a positive attitude and excellent communication and problem-solving skills, all while utilizing sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.JobResponsibilitiesProvide excellent customer service to City of Collinsville customers, including residents, non-resident water and sewer customers, internal staff, and elected officialsAnswer all City Hall main-line phone calls, assist or redirect callers as neededRespond to inquiries from a variety of sources (in person, phone, online, email, etc.) in a prompt, accurate, and friendly mannerProcess cash, credit card, check, and ACH payments for utility bills, permits, and other miscellaneous feesReview and process applications for new water, sewer, and trash servicePrepare various correspondence and mailPerform various research and finance support functions, including data entry, filing, and scanningMinimum QualificationsMinimum qualifications include:3 years of customer support experience or experience of customer servicePositive attitude and excellent customer service skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to learn new tasks, ask questions, and adapt as policies and laws changeAttention to detailAbility to perform independent research (e.g., checking multiple software programs for records and cross-referencing information)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to stay calm and maintain composure during stressful situationsEffective communication skills, both verbal and in writingAbility to work with people at all levels, including the public, staff, and other municipal, county, and state officialsComfortable with cash handling and high volumes of financial transactions; skilled in cash balancingGeneral knowledge of accounting principles as they relate to fund accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, and general ledger functionsComfortable with technology and capable of guiding customers through various web applications in person and over the phoneBilingual candidates are highly preferred Salary and BenefitsThis is a non-exempt, hourly position starting at $46,779.20 - $51,625.60 per year (eligible for overtime and compensation time)The City of Collinsville offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, vision and prescription 100% funded by the City for single coveragePayment for opting out of City Health InsurancePension is with the Illinois Municipal Retirement (IMRF) systemDisability Benefits with IMRFStudent Loan ForgivenessVacation Time, 1 Personal Day/year, and 12 Sick Hours/monthTuition Reimbursement Opportunities 11 Paid Holidays To view more of our benefits please visit: https://www.collinsvilleil.org/departments/employee-benefits
