Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) connects our customers and our shippers. We combine people, technology and products to deliver for our customers at the lowest possible cost. Surface Transportation is the conveyor belt to connect the entire Amazon supply chain. We are a technology company that executes transportation, and we get to do it all at a scale that nobody has ever seen!

We love what we do. We have an incredible team that works hard to change the industry. We are inventing new things each and every day. We rolled out technology in the last two years that rivals anything inside of the transportation space in the last 100 years. We are growing and getting to lead people every single day. As our business grows, we are going to use the same technology and the same standard best practices to build and invent all over the world. If you are interested in growing something new and different, there is an opportunity to do it inside of this space.

North America ATS is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Finance Manager to support Transportation Operations Management (TOM). This is an exciting opportunity to create and innovate on behalf of our customers and build the transportation experience of the future. This role will have heavy impact and high visibility to the long-term strategy for the business, and it will require strong partnership with planning teams as well as Finance and Operations Support groups. Experience with this team opens up amazing career opportunities across Amazon, such as senior roles supporting an impressive array of business areas, project management roles, and/or management opportunities locally, regionally, and globally. We are looking for a leader who exhibits excellent attention to detail and is comfortable with ambiguity. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly evolving environment. Regular collaboration with executives and various business units across Amazon will allow you the opportunity to exhibit your verbal and written communication skills. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to improve and create new measures for business effectiveness, innovate creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools, and identify high priority projects to maximize results for key stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Navigate complex financial landscapes, providing strategic guidance to business partners in uncertain scenarios with limited information. Deliver balanced analyses of financial and operational trade-offs to facilitate informed decision-making
  • Excel in translating intricate financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences. Utilize both written and verbal communication skills to convey critical information that drives strategic business decisions
  • Spearhead key automation projects, collaborating across Finance, Business, and Technology teams to achieve high-impact results and enhance operational efficiency
  • Uphold the highest standards of data integrity and financial controls as a cornerstone of the Controllership function. Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve complex reporting challenges while implementing cost-effective risk management strategies
  • Demonstrate mastery in your functional area while promoting a healthy work-life balance. Exemplify operational excellence and serve as a positive role model for team members through collaborative leadership and efficient execution of responsibilities

About the team

About the Company

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
