Do you want to be at the center of innovation in consumer electronics? Amazon Lab126 is seeking a Financial Analyst Third Grade to drive financial excellence for FireTV product development. In this unique role, you"ll own cost unit economics for an entire product line, serving as the central point for coordinating costs across all line items while supporting one of Amazon"s most innovative hardware teams.

You"ll partner directly with product development teams to deliver financial modeling, variance analysis, and data-driven recommendations that shape product roadmaps and drive cost optimization. With regular interaction with executives and cross-functional teams, you"ll influence strategic decisions in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment where your analytical insights directly impact product success.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own cost unit economics and product cost of goods sold (PCOGS) for the entire FireTV product line, serving as the central coordination point for all cost line items across horizontal teams
  • Build and maintain dynamic financial models to support product and portfolio scenario analysis, delivering data-driven recommendations that influence strategic product decisions
  • Execute comprehensive financial budgeting, planning, reporting, and variance analysis to ensure accurate forecasting and identify performance gaps
  • Lead automation initiatives using artificial intelligence and advanced tools to streamline critical financial processes and improve operational efficiency
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including product development, operations, and executives to identify cost savings opportunities and optimize program budgets

A day in the life

You"ll start your day analyzing PCOGS variance reports, comparing actual costs against forecasts to identify trends and anomalies. Throughout the day, you"ll collaborate with FireTV product development teams, consolidating financial data from various business partners and building scenario models for upcoming product launches. You"ll spend time automating manual processes using artificial intelligence tools, then present your findings and recommendations to leadership, ensuring they have the insights needed for strategic decision-making.

About the team

The Lab Product Development Finance team primarily supports FireTV product development finance, including SMP and 1PTV initiatives, while also covering accessories product development finance. As part of Amazon Lab126, an inventive research and development company that has created breakthrough consumer electronics like the Kindle family, Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo, you"ll work alongside some of the most innovative minds in consumer technology.

The team fosters a culture of innovation and collaboration, where your financial expertise directly contributes to bringing cutting-edge products to customers worldwide. You"ll be part of shaping the future of entertainment technology while developing your skills in a dynamic, fast-growing environment.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
