Within a growing, design-focused organization operating in the built environment and community development space, the Accounting and Finance Manager will support both operational leadership and executive decision-making. Through strong financial stewardship and insight you will lead a complex accounting and finance department with multiple revenue streams that blend of partnership accounting, project accounting, and financial planning responsibilities in one role.

This finance leader will report directly to the VP of Operations and will collaborate closely with project leaders, operations, and executive leadership. The Accounting and Finance Manager will lead a full range of activities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash / treasury, payroll, month-end close, and forward-looking financial planning.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and annual close processes in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting

  • Oversee project and partnership accounting activities, including revenue recognition, cost tracking, and financial analysis

  • Partner with leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning initiatives

  • Provide actionable insights through variance analysis and financial modeling to guide business decisions

  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, fostering technical growth, accountability, and process improvement

  • Strengthen internal controls, optimize accounting workflows, and support continuous improvement initiatives

  • Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, project management, and leadership teams to enhance financial transparency

  • Support system implementations or enhancements related to accounting and financial reporting tools

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Brings experience as an Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or Accounting Supervisor within a project-based or professional services environment

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and partnership accounting concepts

  • Experience working closely with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making

  • Demonstrates the ability to mentor and develop team members while improving processes and systems

  • Comfortable navigating multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-moving environment

  • Background in industries such as architecture, engineering, consulting, real estate, or similar sectors is highly valued

  • Brings a mindset focused on growth, continuous improvement, and driving organizational impact
