Job Title: Finance OfficerReports To: Executive DirectorSupervises: N/AJob SummaryThe Finance Officer is to direct the overall financial systems and accounting practices of our 501.C3 charitable organization. Oversee treasury, accounting, budget, tax and audit activities of the Senior Citizens Council of Rome, NY, Inc. The Finance Officer will oversee human resources, insurance, financial and accounting system controls, and standards and ensure timely financial and statistical reports for Executive Director/Board of Directors /Funding sources use.Duties and Responsibility:•Maintain records of routine accounting transactions. •Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records for management monthly.•Analyze, verify and post monthly transactions to journals and ledgers and verify accuracy. Review invoices, bills and vouchers or other documents before entering into records. Sort and file documents, perform calculations. Establish and maintain accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data as necessary for business operations.•Review invoices for accuracy and completeness. •Perform clerical duties associated with accounts payable. •Verify and post accounts receivable transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records. Follow established procedure for processing receipts, cash, and bank deposits.•Support Executive Director in directing budget and cost controls, financial analysis, and accounting procedures. • Organizes and plans auditing schedules.•Develops and enforce in conjunction with Executive Director, policy, and procedures manuals for center. •Prepare and collect time sheets for payroll service.• Ensure compliance with human resource laws and guidelines. Manage new hire processes by having new hires complete orientation paperwork and maintain employee files.Education and Experience •Fluent in understanding and use of QuickBooks•Two years accounting - AA degree with 4 years of experience in working in accounting position with general office/business experience•Prefer- bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2 years of experience in working in accounting position with general office / business experienceWork Schedule:•This is a part-time regular position primarily Monday-Friday during regular business hours but must be flexible. Physical Requirements:•Combination of sitting, walking, and standing.•Occasional heavy lifting of 45lbs. or more, frequent light lifting under 15lbs.•Effective communication skills in person, by phone, and e-mail.Critical Demands:•Knowledge of QuickBooks•Assist Executive Director to manage the budget process.•Involvement in short term and long-term financial planning.•Ability to provide financial information for program planning and meetings.•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative personnel, volunteers, Board members, public and community agencies.•Assist Executive Director in all private, public, local, state, federal grant applications requiring budget and other necessary documents. •Ability to set goals and objectives, create fiscal and human resource structure, execute plans, handle complaints, and find solutions.•Guide the organization insurance needs ensuring compliance •Assist the Executive Director in meeting all Laws and guidelines for human resource functions such as payroll, PTO, and sick leave requirements.
