Finance Process Excellence Manager

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)

Pay Rate: $50.00-$60.00/hour
Travel: Occasional travel (approximately twice per year to corporate headquarters)

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Finance Process Excellence Manager for a fully remote, 12-month contract opportunity. This role is responsible for driving end-to-end Finance process excellence across key value streams, including Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Record-to-Report (R2R). The ideal candidate will establish governance frameworks, optimize business processes, implement automation strategies, and deliver measurable operational improvements through process standardization, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions.

This position partners closely with Finance, Digital, and IT leadership to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, enhance audit readiness, and support enterprise transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Process Governance & Optimization
  • Establish governance models, process ownership, decision rights, and escalation procedures across Finance operations.
  • Develop, document, and maintain end-to-end Finance process maps, including workflows, systems, controls, and cross-functional handoffs.
  • Create standardized operating procedures, templates, documentation, and process frameworks.
  • Define and monitor KPIs, performance baselines, improvement targets, and accountability metrics.
  • Lead recurring operational reviews, root cause analysis sessions, and continuous performance monitoring.
  • Deliver measurable improvements in cycle time, operational efficiency, quality, cost reduction, and control effectiveness.

Process Transformation
  • Manage the intake, prioritization, and execution roadmap for Finance process improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance, Digital, and IT teams to identify automation opportunities and implement scalable process enhancements.
  • Simplify complex workflows into standardized, sustainable business processes.
  • Lead organizational change management, training, communications, and adoption efforts to ensure long-term success.
  • Coach business partners on process excellence methodologies and best practices.

Digital Transformation & AI
  • Leverage Microsoft Copilot and AI-enabled technologies to analyze processes, generate documentation, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize AI tools to extract workflows from meetings, operational documentation, and business data.
  • Drive adoption of intelligent automation and digital workflows throughout Finance operations.
  • Partner with analytics teams to develop dashboards and insights that support operational decision-making and performance management.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in Finance operations, Finance transformation, business process improvement, or process excellence.
  • Strong experience managing end-to-end Finance processes with enterprise-wide accountability.
  • Deep understanding of Finance transaction flows, including Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, and Record-to-Report.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience simplifying and documenting complex business processes.
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot, process mapping software, and collaboration platforms.
  • Experience using Lucidchart (Lucid) or similar process mapping tools.
  • Experience supporting ERP-enabled Finance environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large consulting firms supporting Finance process excellence or enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience implementing Finance automation and AI-driven process improvements.
  • Experience supporting enterprise digital transformation initiatives.
