Job Title: Finance Summer Intern - Fixed Asset & Leasing

Reports To: Manager Financial Reporting

Location: Wall Township, NJ, 07719

Job Type: Summer Internship

Job Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays

Pay Range: $20-22 an hour

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Summer Intern to support the Fixed Asset and Leasing Department. This role provides hands-on experience in asset accounting and lease management within a dynamic transportation environment. The intern will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, supporting asset lifecycle tracking, and ensuring proper documentation of leasing activity.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Assist with recording asset additions and ensuring proper classification and capitalization
  • Support processing and documentation of asset retirements and disposals
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register for accuracy and completeness
  • Verify asset data, including cost, useful life, and location assignments
  • Assist with subledger asset reconciliations as well as reconciliations with the Fleet management system
  • Support requests from internal and external year end audit processes

 

Capital Expenditure & CER Tracking

  • Update and track Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs)
  • Ensure alignment between approved CERs and recorded asset additions
  • Maintain documentation supporting capital projects and approvals
  • Assist with tracking of vehicle payments for purpose of accurate forecast updates

 

Leasing Activities

  • Assist with lease schedule setup in accordance with company policies
  • Enter and maintain lease additions in leasing software
  • Support ongoing maintenance of lease records, including reconciling lease payments, updates and changes
  • Support requests from internal and external year end audit processes

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (knowledge of formulas and data management preferred)
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Oracle ERP systems and leasing software is a plus

 

Learning Opportunities:
