Brief Job Description
Internal applications are being accepted for the position of Financial Aid Advisor/Scholarship Coordinator in the Financial Aid Office. This is an internal job posting limited to active employees at SUNY Buffalo State who are currently paid from any state-appropriated-funds payroll.
The Financial Aid Advisor provides comprehensive advising to students and families on federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, assessing financial need and determining eligibility through phone, email, in-person appointments, and service counter support. This role leads the administration of institutionally and donor-funded scholarships, ensuring timely, accurate processing in alignment with donor gift agreements and regulatory requirements. The position develops and maintains efficient scholarship processes, supports and optimizes the campus scholarship systems and serves as a liaison with academic units, Institutional Advancement, and other campus partners. Additionally, the role supports the universitys mission through outreach and engagement activities such as open houses, orientations, financial aid presentations, and committee service, while continuously identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
