Position Summary:

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for full-time Financial Aid Coordinator. This position will Provide front line advising and service to students, families, and other university professionals in the processing of federal, state, and institutional financial aid by phone, email, and in person. nbsp;

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of the Federal Loan program for the university, which includes Subsidized Loans, Unsubsidized Loans, Additional Unsubsidized Loans, Parent PLUS Loans, and Graduate PLUS Loans.

• Monitor loan limits and notify students. Advise/counsel students regarding all options of financial aid including using private/alternative loans wisely.

• Process all private/alternative loan applications and school certification requests by awarding the proper amount manually.

• Advise and counsel students and parents regarding federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs.

• Assist with FAFSA completion, loan processes, scholarship applications, satisfactory academic progress, study abroad aid, and financial aid requirements through phone, email, and in-person interactions.

• Determine eligibility and process all aspects of the Federal TEACH grant program. Ensure that all TEACH counseling and Agreements to Serve are complete and linked to the corresponding award. nbsp;

• Assist with student questions during Open Houses and recruitment events.

• Collect and process mail/email for the Front Desk

• Print aid history reports from NSLDS and COD

• Contributes to the success of EIU by performing other duties and assisting with projects, as assigned. nbsp;

• Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:

• College coursework in any discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

• 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)

• Associate rsquo;s degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)

• 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

• Bachelor rsquo;s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)

• Work experience performing office, business, or customer/relations activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of clerical procedures.
• Knowledge of the student application process
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office ndash; Outlook, Excel, and Word and other computer programs.
• Skill in mathematics and calculations.
• Skill in customer service, and oral and written communication.
• Skill in time management, organizing work assignments, and responding quickly and effectively to challenges.
• Ability to interpret and apply internal and government policies, procedures and regulations.
• Ability to work in an environment that can be fast-paced and stressful.

Work Hours:

The core work hours of this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. nbsp;

Starting Salary/Pay Rate Range:

Current starting pay rate for this position is $21.31

This position is a union position; therefore, provisions of the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement/labor contract apply to the filling of this position, including pay rate. nbsp;
