Job Summary

Responsible for assisting the Assistant Director with administration, planning and coordination of a designated program, department or unit within the Financial Aid Department. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.

Essential Functions

Responsible for coordinating all activities related to the operation of the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program and alternative loans to include keeping up to date with changing regulations, interfacing with Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), and loan servicer's, overseeing default aversion activities and assisting in development of policies, procedures, and forms.

Responsible for determining eligibility for and processing of student loan applications.

Oversee receipt, disbursement, and transmittal of returned loan funds. Responsible for reconciliation of the loan fund pass through account.

Coordinate all entrance and exit loan counseling sessions to include arranging schedule, ensuring schedule is posted on Financial Aid web page, updating entrance presentations based on updated regulations and designing and implementing enhancements to the entrance and exit loan counseling procedure.

Serve as a liaison with external agencies in processing of student loans. Communicate effectively and professionally with representatives from the loan servicer's community and COD regarding the loan process including the resolution of loan problems. Liaison for the institution regarding specialized loan software.

Assist in evaluation of aid eligibility and awarding of aid. Advise students and families regarding all aspects of student Financial Aid programs and delivery system.

Conduct Financial Aid workshops for current and prospective students on campus and in the community.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. Associate's degree and five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  7. Experience making group and individual presentations.

  8. Experience managing and supervising personnel.

  9. Working knowledge of Financial Aid processes.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
