Position Title: Financial Aid Counselor

Department: Financial Aid

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $38,640-$41,500

Travel: Less than 10%

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Assist students/families with exploring financial resources. Responsible for one or more specific programs of the Universitys Financial Aid Office including eligibility determination, record maintenance and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelors Degree

Discipline/Degree Area:

Required Specialized Training/Certifications:

Required Minimum Work Experience: One year Financial Aid Office experience or two years of work experience in a regulated, detail-oriented environment, such as experience in a financial related field or a student services position in a higher education setting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:

Experience and skill in counseling students, parents and/or the community. Positive customer relations and ability to work with diverse populations.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Possess a working knowledge of computer applications in a PC/software systems environment.

Skill to work with programs that are highly regulated and require attention to detail. Excellent record keeping abilities.

Proficient with basic accounting principles.

Ability to accurately and efficiently perform required computerized tasks to include any combination of word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, internet, or web-based applications.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

Financial Aid Office experience at a counselor level or above.

Experience administering financial programs that require exceptional organizational skills.

Masters Degree in related field.

Experience working with SCT Banner.
