Job Description Summary

The Financial Aid Counselor - Scholarship Coordinator is responsible to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid Services for the coordination, management and reconciliation of all University endowed and annual donor scholarships. The Financial Aid Counselor - Scholarship Coordinator is a self-starting individual that can manage the above programs with minimal guidance from supervisor.

Responsibilities

Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian Higher education

  • Financial Aid professionals will declare their commitment to the NASFAA Statement of Ethical Principles by advocating for students, committing to the highest level of integrity, support student access and success: and comply with federal and state laws.
  • Ability to work independently and review current policies and procedures and provide updates and recommendations when needed.
  • Coordinate the setup of the Academic Works software which is utilized for the awarding and tracking of the university endowed/annual scholarships.
  • Award and manage endowed/annual scholarships in collaboration with University Advancement and Finance.
  • Process and award all scholarship checks from outside organizations that students receive for their enrollment at Lewis University.
  • Coordinate, award and collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Gifts to make recommendations for foundation grants that are received at Lewis University.
  • Counsel and package all Lewis University students for financial aid and determine eligibility following university, state and federal requirements.
  • Attend Open Houses, Information Sessions and other Recruitment events to communicate financial aid information to prospective students.
  • Analyze current Financial Aid policies, programs and procedures and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Notify the Assistant Director of any situations and/or problems that arise which may jeopardize or negatively impact the goals and objectives of the university.
  • Attend university meetings as requested in order to disseminate and/or gather pertinent information and facts.
  • Serve on university committees and/or task forces as assigned.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as delegated by the Director of Financial Aid Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Adult Education, Business or related field required, Master's degree preferred. The ability to communicate well both orally and in writing is essential. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of financial aid experience preferred
