Financial Aid Director
Classification: Full-Time, Staff Member, 52-Week
Supervisor: Vice President for Enrollment Services
The Financial Aid Director is responsible for administering all federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
The Director provides leadership for financial aid operations, counsels students and families regarding financial assistance, and works collaboratively with campus departments to support student enrollment, retention, and success in keeping with the mission of God's Bible School and College.
Responsibilities
- Administer all federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations and policies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial aid policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Process financial aid applications, verification, awarding, professional judgment requests, satisfactory academic progress (SAP) reviews, and Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) calculations.
- Counsel prospective and current students and families regarding financial aid eligibility, financing options, and the financial aid process.
- Coordinate institutional scholarships, grants, and donor-funded awards in accordance with established criteria.
- Prepare and submit required federal and state reports and ensure timely reconciliation of financial aid funds.
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to institutional policies and procedures.
- Supervise and develop financial aid staff as necessary.
- Collaborate with various departments to support enrollment and student success.
- Maintain accurate student financial aid records and utilize technology to improve departmental efficiency and service.
- Represent the Financial Aid Office at campus events, orientation programs, recruitment activities, and other institutional functions.
- Assist with planning and implementing enrollment and retention initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong Christian commitment and agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement (per GBSC employment policy).
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
- Three or more years of progressively responsible financial aid experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of federal Title IV financial aid regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency with student information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Positive, growth-oriented mindset.
- Professional demeanor.
