Job Title Financial Aid Specialist Summary
The Financial Aid Specialist for Federal and State Programs reports to the Senior Associate Director and has the primary responsibility for all state and federal grant programs at the university. This role ensures institutional, state, and federal compliance through awarding, monitoring, and reporting of these programs. Additionally, this role is responsible for verifying and calculating the accuracy of aid eligibility for applicants who are selected for verification, request professional judgement/special circumstance, dependency override, and FAFSA discrepancies. This specialist will also be responsible for the return to Title IV process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the awarding and reporting of state aid programs, including but not limited to:
Ohio College Opportunity Grant;
Governor's Merit;
Ohio War Orphan Scholarship;
Ohio National Guard;
Choose Ohio First; and
Pennsylvania Grant.
Assist with reporting and balancing federal grant funds through the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) system on a monthly basis to ensure institutional compliance with federal guidelines.
Participate as a member of the Financial Appeals Committee, process professional judgements, independent overrides, and other atypical situations.
Assist with verifying students selected for federal or institutional verification.
Assist with the Faculty Staff Tuition waiver process.
Assist in the review of revised FAFSA results, review ISIR codes and clear c -codes.
Assist with yearly compliance and state audits.
Other duties as assigned, including representing the Student Enrollment and Financial Services office at University recruitment and retention events.

Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions
University core business hours are generally 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. This position will require occasional work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations.
Physical Requirements
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Hours Part Time FLSA Exempt (Salary) Compensation & Benefits
Starting annual salary will be $36,000.
