POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

As a Financial Aid/Veterans Assistant II, youll be a trusted guide for students and families, helping them navigate the financial aid process, understand their eligibility for grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study opportunities, and access the resources they need to succeed.

Working closely with the Financial Aid and Veterans Services team, Communities of Interest Success Teams, and other campus departments, youll provide targeted outreach, present at student orientations, lead application workshops, and deliver personalized assistance. This front-line, student-focused role blends customer service, problem-solving, and community engagement to ensure equitable access to higher education.

Work Schedule

This position works primarily at the Main Campus but will be scheduled to work at the Chico or Glenn Centers on a rotating basis. Working hours will be Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Summer hours will be Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. When scheduled at the Chico or Glenn Center, Monday through Thursday hours would be 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. May include nights and weekends as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • High School Graduate or General Educational Development (GED); AND
  • Two (2) years of experience closely related to the duties and responsibilities of this class.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • The successful applicant will be required to complete a medical history questionnaire and must agree to undergo and pass a pre-employment physical examination, based on the physical requirements of the position, prior to employment. The physician will be selected and paid for by the District. Disabilities not related to the essential physical job requirements will not preclude the applicant from being hired.
  • Education Code § 87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that they are free of active tuberculosis.
  • As a condition of employment, the District requires that you provide fingerprints prior to beginning work. You may be fingerprinted at Butte College Human Resources by appointment, or you may be fingerprinted at another agency. Should you be fingerprinted at another agency, the rolling fee charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the fingerprint report is the employees responsibility at the time of printing.
