Overview
Under the general direction of the Senior Finance Manager and with latitude for exercising discretion and independent judgment, performs a variety of analytical and financial functions with a primary focus on the department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, with occasional assistance provided to the department of Emergency Medicine. This position will work directly with the Associate Director, Senior Finance Manager, Finance and Sectional leadership on the overall financial management of the sections with a focus on the clinical, education and administrative lines of business. Provides high-level financial analysis and continuous support to business operations and strategic initiatives. Financial Analysts are responsible for financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and reporting. This role offers opportunities to develop and enhance financial, analytical, and business acumen while partnering with cross-functional teams to support informed decision-making and organizational objectives.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills, including proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting.
Proven ability in problem solving, data analysis and resolving complex issues with sound judgment.
Proactive self-starter, resourceful, with ability to multi-task, learn quickly, and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high attention to detail.
Strong computing skills, including advanced experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and database query tools.
Demonstrated superior customer service orientation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage proactively with clients.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Yale University business, accounting and financial policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Yale University financial systems including Workday and YBT.
