Under the general supervision of the Financial and Administrative Officer (FAO), the Financial Analyst provides professional-level financial, budgetary, and administrative support to the Departments of Creative Writing, Dance, Music, Theatre, Film & Digital Production, and Performing Arts Administration. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the accounting and fiscal management of multiple funding sources, including state, grant, and sales & service funds (e.g., concert ticket revenue). Serving as the primary financial advisor to the FAO, the Analyst conducts detailed budget analysis, prepares meaningful financial reports, provides comprehensive budget information, and supports long-range financial planning for all five departments. Additional responsibilities include serving as the HR/Payroll Coordinator for staff and student employment across all departments and providing payroll guidance to Academic Coordinators. The Analyst also supports operational functions of the Performing Arts Administration office, including space and key management. The Analyst serves as a resource on University financial and administrative policies, promotes best practices, and provides backup support to team members as needed. The full salary range for this position is $70,824.96 - $103,585.68 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applies professional concepts to perform basic financial or resource analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and/or resource allocations. o Responsible for the administration and coordination of departmental budgets and accounting functions.Under general supervision, provides analytical support for simple to moderate budget, financial, or resource analysis projects. o Coordinate HR processes for monthly and hourly employees, track UC Path entries; in concert with the FAO, audit payroll expenditure reports to ensure that salaries are charged to the appropriate account and employees have received accurate and proper pay. Process forms for corrections and transfer funds as appropriate. o Analyzes and assists with financial transactions including, but not limited to, expense cost transfers, payroll, cash receipts recording, cost analysis, budget entries, etc. Performs work in a fashion that financial transactions are compliant and timely for monthly postings.Gathers and analyzes financial and/or resource data; prepares and summarizes information and/or recommendations. o Analyzes transactions, expenditures, identifies and resolves discrepancies; provides financial reports that summarize with detail, expenditures to date and provide current balances; o Prepares ad-hoc reports and performs analysis as needed. Prepares and presents financial and resource reports and/or analysis for internal department constituents.Applies financial concepts to process, review and approve financial transactions. o Review COAs and ensure all funds are either encumbered or expended properly, preparing CBAs, NCTs, PCTs, as necessary. Verify that all budgetary and financial adjustments have been included. Arrange for any additional adjustments and/or corrections.Oversees facilities and space logistics, including management of key and room access. o Manages access to Performing Arts Administration spacesImplements department budget allocations and maintains department chart of accounts, and related business processes. o Responsible for the budget allocations for the units; initiates SCTs/NCTs/ CBAs as appropriate. Responsible for Non-Payroll Cost Transfers (NCT) and Salary Cost Transfers (SCT) for all units in a timely manner.Prepares basic financial and resource reports and/or analysis for internal department constituents. Examples include periodic financial reports, staff/faculty salary budgets, contracts, grants, gifts, endowments, or user fees. Financial and/or resource analysis could include budgetary analysis, financial analysis, forecasts, projections, staff or faculty salary or FTE analysis, student enrollment analysis, recharge or general rate analysis (parking rates, copier rates, capital project rates, student health charges) student fees (self-supporting programs, professional school fees, course material fees, etc.) contracts and grants analysis, endowment income, fungibility of funds, working capital, depreciation, new building funds, etc. o Prepare reports and analysis for FAO regarding the utilization of departmental resources and expenditures all within functional areas for overall short and long range departmental planning;Ensures that the appropriate internal controls are addressed, maintained, and strengthened to protect University resources.Receives more detailed instructions for new assignments.
