Financial Analyst - Field Operations
Location: Morristown NJ 07962 - must live in Northern NJ - Will be traveling in Northern NJ 80% of the time to our locations there.
Contract: W2 only,
Pay: $60-65 /hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match
Overview
The Financial Analyst- Field Operations will support a special project focused on reviewing financial and operational practices across line shops and service centers in Northern NJ. This role involves field visits, process evaluations, and collaboration with management to improve capitalization rates and standardize procedures. Candidates should be comfortable engaging with managers and staff to gather insights and provide guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel around Northern NJ to various line shops and service centers to meet with Managers and Directors to review financials.
- Must be comfortable asking questions around where hours are being charged to, etc.
- Focus of this role is to help Lineshops achieve capitalization targets.
- Targeted field visits to shops and service centers with lower capitalization rates.
- The objective would be to better understand local practices, identify inconsistencies, and provide real-time guidance on capitalization decisions.
- Evaluate whether reporting and dashboards can be streamlined to provide a smaller set of leading indicators that help supervisors more effectively review and manage time charging and capitalization performance.
- Develop or refresh Accounting Policy playbooks and guidance documents.
- Translate accounting speak to easy to understand operations tasks.
- Provide targeted training for line supervisors, shop personnel, and Business Services teams to reinforce expectations and improve consistency across operating areas.
- Conduct a joint Accounting Policy and Engineering review of standard design requirements.
- Ensure projects are being designed and executed using approved standard designs, while also considering capitalization implications early in the process.
- Evaluate existing tools and processes related to time charging, particularly around follow-up activities, which may present opportunities for improvement.

- Ability to travel around Northern NJ for field visits.

- Experience in financial review and analysis within operational settings.
- Knowledge of capitalization practices and financial reporting.
- Ability to evaluate and improve reporting tools and dashboards.
- Familiarity with accounting policies and procedures.
- Ability to develop and deliver training and guidance documents.
- Experience in process review and standard design compliance.
- Strong analytical skills to identify inconsistencies and improvement opportunities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Required Education
Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance Preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PowerOn or similar time charging tools.
- Background in utility or industrial operational environments.
- Prior experience in policy development and training.
- Knowledge of standard design review processes.
- Ability to translate technical accounting language into operational guidance.
