POSITION SUMMARY:
The Financial Analyst will support financial planning, cost analysis, inventory management, and reporting within a manufacturing environment. This role will analyze product costs, material, labor, and overhead expenses; monitor inventory costs; perform monthly cost and variance analysis; and provide accurate financial insights to support pricing, purchasing, and operational decisions. The position will partner with cross-functional teams to identify cost drivers, trends, and opportunities for improved financial performance.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and analyze material cost records, standard costs, and related costing data to support accurate financial reporting and business decisions.
- Perform periodic material cost updates and evaluate the financial impact of changes in raw material, labor, overhead, and supply costs.
- Perform monthly actual versus plan variance analysis for manufacturing expenses, production performance, inventory activity, and cost center results.
- Develop financial analytics, dashboards, and reports that summarize cost trends, inventory movements, expense performance, forecasted spending, and efficiency opportunities.
- Prepare periodic cost reconciliation reports, including analysis of changing labor, supply, freight, overhead, and inventory-related costs.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing cost centers, including annual plan support, cost assumptions, and operational expense analysis.
- Analyze inventory valuation, inventory movements, obsolescence, discards, cycle count results, and physical inventory activity to support inventory accuracy and financial controls.
- Partner with Operations, Purchasing, and Finance to investigate cost variances, inventory discrepancies, and process improvement opportunities.
- Maintain fixed asset records and analyze depreciation, capital activity, and related expense impacts.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, supply chain, or related field desired.
- At least three years of related financial analysis, cost accounting, inventory analysis, or manufacturing finance experience required.
- Strong understanding of product costing, standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost drivers preferred.
- Experience analyzing large data sets and developing financial reports, trend analysis, reconciliations, and actionable business insights required.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX concepts preferred.
- Previous experience with ERP systems required; SAP experience preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with analytics or reporting tools preferred.
