About this Position

As a Financial Analyst, Senior with Lane County, youll play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity, accountability, and transparency of one of Oregons largest local governments. This is a highly technical position for an experienced governmental accountant who thrives on complex financial reporting, data analysis, and producing accurate, audit-ready financial information that supports sound decision-making and public trust.

In this role, youll lead the preparation of the Countys Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) while managing complex accounting activities throughout the fiscal year, including budget-to-actual reporting, modified and full accrual accounting, year-end close, and general ledger reconciliation. Working collaboratively across departments, youll ensure financial information is accurate, compliant with governmental accounting standards, and presented in a way that informs County leadership, elected officials, auditors, and the public.

The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of governmental accounting with exceptional analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. Youll be comfortable navigating complex financial data, partnering with internal and external auditors, developing meaningful reports, and translating technical accounting information into clear, concise reports for a variety of audiences.

If youre energized by solving complex accounting challenges, committed to accuracy and continuous improvement, and want your expertise to directly support responsible stewardship of public resources, we encourage you to apply.

The successful candidate will bring experience with:

  • Preparing or contributing to an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in accordance with GASB standards.
  • Governmental accounting, including modified accrual and full accrual accounting principles.
  • Managing year-end close activities, general ledger reconciliation, and budget-to-actual financial reporting.
  • Coordinating and responding to internal and external audit requests.
  • Developing financial reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Writing clear, accurate, and highly technical financial reports for leadership, auditors, elected officials, and external stakeholders.
  • Interpreting and applying governmental accounting standards, regulations, and best practices while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
