Summary:
The Finance Department at Rollins College is seeking a Financial Business Analyst to support financial planning, analysis, and data‑driven decision‑making efforts across the College.
General ledger accounting, including journal entry preparation, researching transactions, and reconciling activity.
Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and address them using analysis to make strategic and tactical recommendations.
Develop/update reports and queries using appropriate reporting tools.
Research, analyze and develop advanced reports and spreadsheets for organizational and departmental needs.
Providing budget management training and support to College's business units and departments; including research of accounting entries, consultation & assistance, generation of reports & instructions on procedures for interaction with Finance Office.
Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties.
Creates and analyzes reports to include performance impacts and efficiency of current and proposed business rules and processes, including support of all financial systems including Emburse, Blackboard Transact, Argos, and others.
Makes recommendations to management and user departments for enhanced financial procedures and/or services.
Provide analyses to managers for evaluation of operating budgets and identification of budgetary needs.
Helps create and maintain organization-wide budgeting models.
Creating and maintaining budget access for users, including processing requests for new access and removing terminated employees and closed budgets.
Daily researching and correcting suspended journal transactions and long-standing journal files in journal upload subdirectory.
Daily research of cash activity and error reports of financial activity.
Daily bank balance monitoring and tracking.
Light supervision and training of temporary or grad assistant help.
Cross training with other accounting functions.
Minimum Qualifications & Education:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of accounting best practices, policies, and procedures with strong analytical skills.
Experience or training in nonprofit accounting systems and an understanding of college financial operations.
Strong capabilities with software programs including database, spreadsheet, word processing, e-mail and Internet applications; experience with Microsoft Office Suite and client/server systems.
Experience with ERP accounting systems such as Banner.
Ability to build financial reports, analyze information to make judgment decisions, and ability to understand/interpret complex instructions.
Ability to focus and to work independently.
Ability to perform work involving extremely detail written numerical data and to make arithmetic calculations rapid and accurately.
Handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
Strong communication and customer service.
