Financial Counselor

Highlights of your role:

Responsible for smooth operation of AR collection activity.  Makes daily calls to request payment or set up a payment plan.  Reviews WQs on outstanding accounts to determine whether to move to Bad Debt status and refer to outside agencies. Receives money on account.  Monitors balances on deceased patients and files probate. Back-up in the phone chain for receptionist. Back-up for daily cash receipts reconciliation.

*Pay Range: $20.16-$28.21

*It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees.

What you’ll get to do in this role:

Assists with the smooth operation of the collection process per policy by reviewing outstanding account WQs on a daily basis.

Makes phone calls to request payments or to set up payment plans

Receives and posts payments on account

Analyzes accounts for possible eligibility as Charity Care

Promotes payroll deductions on facility employees

Sends Bad Debt accounts to collection agencies per policy for further collection action

Reviews current patients by guidelines for potential HPE coverage or other public assistance

Monitors deceased patient accounts and files probate, if applicable

Processes small balance write-off on a regular basis

Back-up daily cash receipts reconciliation

Back-up in the phone chain for receptionist

You’re an excellent fit, if you have:

• knowledge of hospital billing, preferred

• ability to remain tactful in conversations
• excellent clerical skills
• computer proficiency
• investigative skills
