Financial Counselor Position Summary The Financial Counselor helps patients understand and manage the financial aspects of their healthcare services. The role typically involves providing assistance with billing, insurance verification, and financial assistance programs, ensuring that patients are aware of their financial obligations and available options.
Financial Counselor Position Requirements Education High School graduate or equivalent required.
Experience At least one year of business office experience required. Must have computer experience. Experience in healthcare billing collection or registration preferred. Knowledge of regulatory compliance issues, uniform billing requirements, HIPAA transaction code sets, state and federal collection law, and payer contractual relationships preferred. Customer service experience preferred. Prefer knowledge of a second foreign language, other than English, preferably Spanish, Haitian, or Creole.
Financial Counselor Schedule Monday-Friday primarily day shift and weekends as required. Rotating day evening, week, and weekend as required.
