Pharmacy Financial Counselor
HumanHire is partnered with a leading healthcare organization to find a compassionate and detail-oriented Pharmacy Financial Counselor. This role is ideal for someone with healthcare experience who enjoys helping patients navigate insurance coverage, financial assistance programs, and medication affordability. You will work closely with pharmacy, revenue cycle, and clinical teams to help ensure patients receive the medications they need while minimizing financial barriers to care.

Responsibilities
  • Review insurance benefits and medication coverage in collaboration with pharmacy and authorization teams
  • Explain medication costs, insurance coverage, and out-of-pocket responsibilities to patients
  • Assist patients with applications for manufacturer assistance programs and nonprofit financial assistance
  • Register eligible patients for drug replacement and patient assistance programs
  • Document all patient assistance activities accurately within AssistPoint and OncoEMR
  • Verify insurance coverage and update patient information in practice management systems
  • Coordinate with clinical and authorization teams to support timely treatment approvals
  • Educate patients on Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace plans, and open enrollment options
  • Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring patient confidentiality
  • Support financial hardship requests in accordance with organizational policies
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous healthcare experience required, preferably in a medical office, pharmacy, or clinical setting
  • Knowledge of insurance verification processes, ICD-10, and CPT coding
  • Experience working with EMR and practice management systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to discuss sensitive financial matters with empathy and professionalism
  • Passion for supporting patients through complex healthcare and financial processes
