How you'll contribute
As a Financial Counselor, you will excel by:
- Providing compassionate financial counseling to patients and families regarding insurance coverage, payment responsibilities, and available financial assistance options.
- Verifying insurance eligibility and accurately interpreting policy benefits to determine patient financial obligations and reduce billing discrepancies.
- Collecting co-pays, deductibles, self-pay balances, and other patient payments while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensuring complete and accurate admission, registration, and financial documentation by obtaining required information and signatures prior to service.
- Maintaining compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, VA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements through accurate recordkeeping and adherence to established guidelines.
- Identifying potential payment challenges early and developing appropriate payment arrangements that support both patient needs and organizational revenue goals.
- Supporting revenue cycle efficiency through accurate cash handling, daily reconciliations, deposit preparation, and effective use of patient financial systems.

What we're looking for.
- High school diploma required; associate degree, bachelor''s degree, or other advanced education preferred.
- Minimum of one year of business, financial, bookkeeping, cash handling, or collections experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications, with the ability to quickly learn patient accounting and hospital information systems.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a patient-focused approach and a commitment to delivering a positive experience.
- Strong telephone communication skills, including the ability to professionally discuss financial obligations, payment options, and account information.
- Hospital, healthcare, patient access, or medical business office experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance processes preferred.
