Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver standards-aligned financial literacy instruction that meets New York State education requirements.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans using evidence-based instructional practices and real-world financial scenarios.
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction based on student performance.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, critical thinking, and responsible decision-making.
  • Teach topics including personal budgeting, banking, credit, debt management, investing, taxes, insurance, consumer protection, entrepreneurship, and financial goal setting.
  • Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and learning needs of students.
  • Collaborate with school leadership, counselors, teachers, and support staff to promote student achievement.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance in accordance with school policies.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent conferences, and school events.
  • Maintain compliance with all school, network, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Travel requirements: Minimal travel may be required for professional development, training, or school-related events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree with 2.0 GPA or greater required.

  • Valid New York State teaching certification required or ability to obtain appropriate certification in accordance with NYSED requirements.

  • Prior classroom teaching experience preferred.

  • Experience teaching financial literacy, business, economics, mathematics, social studies, or career readiness preferred.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of personal finance principles and financial literacy concepts.

  • Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills.

  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

$81,512.00 to $89,906.00 is the pay range for this role. Pay determination is based on experience, education, internal equity, and market as defined by NHA.
