Job Description: FINANCIAL MANAGER
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This is highly responsible accounting and administrative work involving planning, directing, managing, and overseeing financial activities, operations, reporting related to finance, governmental accounting, budgeting, and grants administration as assigned. Assignments include but are not limited to directing the accounting program(s) within assigned department(s) and aiding administrative staff with regard to accounting principles and/or applicable grant requirements, fiscal control, and budgetary work. Monitors, implements, and makes recommendations for the improvement of internal controls, processes, policies, procedures, and reporting standards. Work is performed with considerable independent judgement both in methods and procedures followed and in final analysis. Financial administrative support involves a review of work for thoroughness and the validity of conclusions and recommendations.
REPORTS TO: City assignment: Director of Policy, Management, and Grants (Budget Director) or designee. Board of Education assignment: Supervisor of Magnet and Grant Programs, or designee

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Public administration, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accountancy or Public Policy or related field; 2 to 3 years' experience of relevant experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or public policy; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to provide the applicant with the knowledge, abilities, and skills to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
