Special Information

  • Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver’s license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. About the Position

The Financial Oversight Analyst serves NAU Yuma by performing a range of specialized accounting and financial functions, including purchasing, budgeting, and day-to-day fiscal operations. This position conducts financial analysis and forecasting to support sound decision-making and strengthen the university’s financial health. The analyst ensures compliance with established budget goals, university policies, and institutional expectations while supporting accurate, efficient, and responsible stewardship of university resources at the Yuma location.

Responsibilities Include

40% - Purchasing

  • Prepares and tracks purchase requisition requests for NAU Yuma faculty and staff. Assists faculty and staff with travel reimbursement requests.
  • Monitors and updates course and program fees for the campus. - (Essential)

30% - Budget

  • Gathers and interprets basic information on departmental expense tracking for recommendations.
  • Understands and applies knowledge of the appropriate handling of department budget information.
  • Performs research to provide the administration with financial data and recommendations.
  • Compiles data and prepares basic summaries to be used for plans, forecasts, and budgets. - (Essential)

15% - Part-Time Faculty Onboarding

  • Responsible for coordinating key steps in the part time faculty hiring process, including initiating onboarding activities, monitoring completion of required documents, tracking payroll, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure clear, timely communication with part-time faculty throughout each stage of the process. - (Essential)

5% - Inventory

  • Maintains the NAU Yuma computer inventory and other equipment inventory. - (Essential)

5% - Fleet

  • Manages and maintains the fleet vehicle maintenance needs for NAU Yuma. - (Essential)

5% - Other

  • Performs other assigned duties. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • 1-2 years of accounting or finance experience

*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Accounting or finance experience in higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Northern Arizona University's policies and procedures. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, and community members of diverse cultural backgrounds, age ranges, and experience levels.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

  • Baseline working knowledge of financial oversight and operations tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concepts, such as payroll management systems and budget analysis projects, as well as such as expense tracking, and trend analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting in higher education and university budgeting practices.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Skill in financial modeling.

Compensation

Budgeted salary is $45,533. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report

Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
