Financial Reporting Analyst
 

We are currently seeking candidates for a Financial Reporting Analyst opportunity with a leading financial services firm in Boston, MA. The Financial Reporting Analyst will support the preparation of financial statements and regulatory filings for registered investment companies while working closely with the Financial Reporting and Fund Administration teams. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of mutual fund accounting or related mutual fund experience, including 1–2 years of financial reporting experience, with a strong understanding of financial statements, fund expenses, and accruals. This individual will be highly detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.


This is a 1-year contract position paying between $45-50/hour depending on experience with a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote in Boston.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare drafts of annual, semi-annual, and quarterly financial statements and regulatory filings for registered investment companies

  • Prepare fund expense pro formas, review expenses and accruals, and coordinate adjustments with clients and the financial reporting team

  • Prepare fund expense invoices for authorization and review

  • Develop and maintain reporting timetables and calendars while monitoring deadlines and workflow

  • Support the preparation of board books and procedures manuals

  • Report and communicate fund performance data to management and industry publications

  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements, including the Investment Company Act of 1940, Internal Revenue Code, GAAP, and Regulation S-X

  • Monitor regulatory changes affecting registered investment companies and financial reporting

  • Collaborate with Financial Reporting and Fund Administration teams to ensure accurate and timely completion of deliverables

  • Assist with reviewing work completed by junior-level staff and provide guidance as needed

  • Maintain working knowledge of EDGAR and Merrill Reports

  • Evaluate and recommend enhancements to fund accounting and reporting systems to improve financial reporting and compliance processes

  • Participate in special projects and other initiatives as directed by the Financial Reporting or Fund Administration leadership


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 3–5 years of mutual fund accounting or related mutual fund experience, including 1–2 years of financial reporting experience

  • Strong understanding of financial statements, fund accounting, and financial reporting processes

  • Working knowledge of GAAP, Regulation S-X, and regulatory requirements applicable to investment companies

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a strong focus on accuracy

  • Proven ability to identify issues, solve problems, and recommend solutions

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Comfortable working in a client-focused, deadline-driven environment
