The Financial Reporting Analyst supports the preparation of external financial and regulatory reports and assists with compliance-related filings in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate combines a solid accounting foundation who is looking to grow technical reporting expertise while working collaboratively under guidance from senior team members. The position emphasizes accuracy, learning, and timely execution.

The Financial Reporting Analyst will assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual external financial reports, including components of Forms 10-Q and 10-K. Support the preparation and review of regulatory reports, including Call Reports and FR reports. Apply established accounting guidance and internal policies to recurring reporting activities with appropriate supervision. Assist with research related to new accounting standards and preparation of draft technical accounting memoranda. Support documentation and testing related to internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting support to senior leadership. Reports directly to the Director of Financial Reporting and works closely with the Controller, external audit team, legal advisors and public company third party service providers. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather, validate, and analyze financial data under tight reporting deadlines is a critical job function.

Represent the Bank to both internal and external customers in a courteous, professional manner in face-to-face, written and telephone communications. Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), quality of documentation, timeliness and the ability to exercise prudent judgment for solutions from unexpected situations that arise. Actively protect confidentiality of customer and account information. Demonstrate Horizon Bank's commitment to the communities we serve through involvement in local organizations and events.

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of SEC forms such as 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K under supervision.
  • Assist with the production and review of regulatory reports, including Call Reports and FR reports.
  • Prepare schedules, roll-forwards, footnote support, and tie-outs related to financial statement reporting.
  • Maintain and update Wdesk and FedReporter software and files for PCAOB and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, internal audit, legal advisors, and third-party service providers as directed.
  • Support implementation of new accounting standards through research, drafting, and documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and reporting documentation.
  • Ensure work complies with GAAP, internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and Bank policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, customer, and Bank information.
  • Participate in required training related to compliance, risk management, and professional development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, public accounting, or banking.
  • CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting concepts; exposure to SEC or regulatory reporting is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with Workiva or similar reporting tools preferred.
  • Prior exposure to regulatory reports such as Call Reports and FR reports is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow established procedures accurately.
