Opening Doors began in 1993 as a small refugee resettlement agency, and today serves 4,000 clients per year across our 5 program areas: Refugee Programs, Human Trafficking Programs, Immigration Legal Services, Health Programs and Economic Prosperity Programs.


Job Overview: The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial reporting, month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and financial compliance activities. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements across multiple entities, manages specialized accounting functions, supports grant reporting activities, and provides critical financial analysis to leadership. The Financial Reporting Manager collaborates closely with accounting, finance, compliance, and operational teams to maintain strong financial controls and reporting standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:


Financial Reporting (Board and Organizational Reporting)


  • Generate, review, and approve monthly Opening Doors, Inc. financial statements
  • Generate, review, and approve monthly Welcome House LLC financial statements
  • Generate, review, and approve monthly Pathways To Prosperity, Inc. financial statements
  • Prepare supporting schedules and financial analyses for leadership and board reporting.
  • Ensure financial reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with organizational standards

Month-End Close (Revenue, Expenses, and Accounts Receivable)


  • Run and review monthly general journal reports for accuracy and approval
  • Review grant revenue and expenses for accuracy and completeness
  • Close month-end accounting periods in QuickBooks for all billed months
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end close activities
  • Oversee special, annual, and semi-annual accounting entries

Month-End Close (Balance Sheet and Account Reconciliations)


  • Oversee monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
  • Oversee monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, monthly journal entries, and intercompany transactions for the organization’s affiliate companies
  • Perform and oversee notes receivable reconciliations and Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) calculations and reporting
  • Monitor and review accrued liabilities, including deferred grant revenue and legal case liabilities

Taxes, Credit Card Maintenance, and In-Kind Contributions


  • Oversee recording and tracking of in-kind contributions and resource distributions
  • Manage company credit card administration and oversight
  • Prepare and manage annual sales and use tax reporting
  • Prepare and manage annual property tax returns
  • Oversee and review the annual nonprofit exempt organization and tax returns

Regulatory Reporting & Compliance


  • Prepare and manage the annual reporting for state and federal lending programs
  • Assist in application and renewal process of Community Development Financial Institutions licensing requirements
  • Prepare and submit annual and quarterly reports for grants from federal agencies (Form SF-425)
  • Manage lines of credit (LOC) including renewals and regular reporting
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting regulations and requirements.

Grant Pipeline & Reporting


  • Correct, review, and in some cases, create budgets for grant applications or renewals
  • Provide grant fund coding guidance for all staff
  • Monitor grant spending progress and spend-down activities to ensure timely utilization of funds
  • Support notes receivable forecasting and projections

Policy & Compliance (P&C) Committee Participation


  • Participate as a member of the P&C Committee.
  • Support development and implementation of accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures
  • Recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency

Required qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.


·       Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience

·       5–7 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience

·       Experience in nonprofit, lending, grant-funded, or multi-entity accounting environments preferred

·       Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and regulatory reporting requirements

·       Experience with mid-level financial management and accounting systems

·       Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required

·       Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

·       Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.


Preferred qualifications: The requirements listed below are not required but are desired.


·       Experience with CDFI reporting and compliance requirements

·       Knowledge of grant accounting and fund management

·       Experience managing financial reporting across multiple legal entities
