Financial Reporting - Staff Accountant

Role Objectives: Support accurate and timely financial reporting by maintaining general ledger integrity, preparing and analyzing financial information, supporting management and compliance reporting, and continuously improving accounting processes and systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and administer general ledger accounts and record business transactions in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements for all entities and provide supporting financial reporting analytics, including future integrated reporting.
• Assist with management reporting, key performance indicator reporting, and financial covenant reporting.
• Prepare and review complex accounting transactions and estimates for posting to the general ledger.
• Prepare audit documentation for quarterly reviews and the annual independent audit.
• Process functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, prepaid expense amortization, fixed asset depreciation, and adjusting or reclassification journal entries.
• Prepare general ledger entries, maintain supporting records files, and reconcile accounts.
• Prepare monthly statements by collecting data, investigating variances, and summarizing financial information and trends.
• Respond to financial inquiries and assemble data for annual tax filings.
• Prepare special financial reports requested by management.
• Verify figures, postings, and documents for accurate entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper coding.
• Use accounting software to record, store, and analyze financial information.
• Partner with management on accounting system integrations and conversions.
• Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to streamline and automate accounting processes. 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements:

• Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting principles and practices.
• Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, key performance indicators, and financial covenant reports.
• Strong account reconciliation, journal entry, accrual, allocation, amortization, and fixed asset accounting skills.
• Ability to analyze variances, trends, complex transactions, and accounting estimates with accuracy and sound judgment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to verify mathematical accuracy, account coding, and completeness of financial documentation.
• Proficiency with accounting software and computer-based tools used to record, store, and analyze financial information.
• Ability to prepare organized audit support and tax-filing documentation and respond effectively to financial inquiries.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial information and preparing management reports.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize recurring close activities, and work independently and collaboratively.
• Process-improvement mindset with the ability to identify automation opportunities and support system integrations and conversions. 

Education/Experience:

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or a Bachelor’s degree in another related field with a concentration in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years of relevant accounting and analysis experience required
• CPA, MBA or public accounting experience a plus 

Physical Requirements: 

• Worker will exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently
• Requires repetitive motion, hearing, talking, grasping, fingering, and sitting
• Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading
• Worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions as work is performed in an office
