Pay: $22–$24/hour

Location: Shakopee, MN

A Day in This Role

At 8:30 AM you open the day’s package: routers, BOMs, assembly prints, and customer notes. You map out the build, verify parts, and set up the bench—microscope focused, halo light tuned, soldering iron ready. By mid-morning, you’re dispensing solder paste and carefully placing 0201 passives, fine‑pitch ICs, leadless devices, diodes, LEDs, connectors, and switches under the microscope. After lunch, hand‑soldered touch‑ups and an oven reflow bring boards to life—always aiming to meet J‑STD‑001 expectations. You check alignment, polarity, accuracy, and overall quality for both SMT and through‑hole work, then pivot to a quick cable assembly and lend a hand to shipping/receiving. Before closing your station, you document findings, suggest a small process tweak, and confirm everything aligns to IPC‑A‑610.

What You’ll Do

  • Review documentation packages, routers, BOMs, assembly prints, and customer instructions to confirm correct build steps
  • Perform precision manual assembly with microscopes, halo lights, soldering irons, and other fine tools
  • Dispense solder paste and place small, fine‑pitch, and leadless components (including 0201s, ICs, diodes, LEDs, connectors, and switches) under a microscope
  • Hand‑solder and reflow using ovens to J‑STD‑001 standards
  • Run in‑process and final inspections for SMT and through‑hole assemblies (alignment, polarity, accuracy, and quality)
  • Build cables and electronic subassemblies to customer specifications
  • Assist with auto‑assisted SMT processes and support shipping/receiving as needed
  • Support X‑ray inspection activities under supervision
  • Interpret BOMs, drawings, routers, and work instructions accurately
  • Recommend process improvements that boost quality and efficiency
  • Work in compliance with IPC standards, including IPC‑A‑610

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of electronics assembly experience (SMT or related manufacturing)
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs, assembly prints, routers, and technical work instructions
  • Hands‑on soldering experience and comfort working under a microscope
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a quality‑first mindset
  • Ability to thrive independently and collaborate within a team
  • Basic math, computer, and documentation skills
  • Excellent hand‑eye coordination for precision assembly

Preferred Certifications

  • IPC‑A‑610
  • J‑STD‑001

You Should Be Proficient In

  • IPC‑A‑610
  • Soldering
