JOB SUMMARY:
The Finish and Polish Lead will be responsible for quality and cost controls in the 2 departments and enforcing and improving department policies and procedures. The Finish and Polish Lead will assist the production supervisor in maintaining the schedule and achieving target ship dates. The Finish and Polish Lead will also have a major role in all continuous improvement activities within the department. This individual will also be a technical expert in finishing and polishing and will mentor and train employees in technique and process to achieve desired results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the company to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and enforced in their department
- Obeying all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agencies’ safety regulations.
- Completing all duties assigned by production supervisor, while making the most efficient use of time, materials, and equipment.
- Ensuring the overall quality of polish for each work order leaving their department
- Tracking/monitoring department key performance indicators and leading continuous improvement efforts for their department
- Driving a culture of workplace safety, ensuring all employees use required PPE at all times, and all work is carried out in a safe manner
- Own and continuously improve the polishing and finishing processes
- Ensuring accurate and timely creation of finished samples
- Ensuring the overall quality of finish for each work order leaving their department
- Ordering all finish materials and equipment
- Manage the hazardous waste produced by the finishing process per the requirements of the applicable governing bodies
- Work as a finisher or polisher as necessary. This will especially become necessary during high volume production periods
- Setting up, operating, and maintaining all relevant tools and machines
- Reading and comprehending shop drawings.
- Consulting with production coordinator and production supervisor polishing custom metal products in accordance with drawings provided by drafting department on construction techniques
- Demonstrating knowledge of:
- Metals
- Polish Equipment/Machinery
- Working individually with little supervision.
- Working as a team and communicating effectively with:
- Production Supervisor
- Production Coordinator
- Sheet Metal Lead
- Finish Lead
- Fabrication Lead
- All other plant employees

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some additional training at technical school
Experience and/or Training:

- Must pass an audiogram test
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis
