We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Seasonal Finishing Assistant to support finishing preparation across fast-paced, creative projects. Reporting functionally to the Finishing Department head and working closely with Production Managers and Lead Finishers, this role supports the preparation of fabricated elements through sanding, patching, and general surface preparation to ensure components are clean, consistent, and ready for finishing.
This is a hands-on, production support role suited for someone who is resourceful, eager to learn, and thrives in an environment where priorities can shift quickly, with the intent of delivering exceptional results.
Salary Range: $22 – $28 / hour (Dependent on experience)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sand, patch, and prepare fabricated components to meet finishing standards.
- Fill seams, holes, and surface imperfections using appropriate materials.
- Prepare a range of materials with attention to material-specific tolerances and surface requirements, including wood, laminates, plastics, and painted finishes.
- Execute sanding and prep techniques appropriate to each material and finish type, avoiding damage to sensitive surfaces.
- Use sanding materials, abrasives, and equipment efficiently, minimizing waste while upholding quality standards.
- Follow direction from the Finishing Department Head, Lead Finishers, and Production Managers on priorities and output.
- Organize and stage parts for finishing, labeling, and grouping as needed.
- Handle and store prepped components carefully to prevent damage prior to finishing.
- Ensure consistency in surface quality across batches and production runs.
- Identify surface issues and flag concerns prior to finishing.
- Keep work areas, tools, and materials clean and organized.
- Support general shop needs as required during peak production periods.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; background in the arts or fabrication preferred.
- 0-2 years of finishing, scenic, or related hands-on experience in fast-paced creative production workshops.
- Basic familiarity with hand tools, sanding equipment, and shop safety practices.
- Ability to follow direction and execute assigned tasks consistently.
- Strong attention to detail and care when working on surface prep, sensitive materials, and finished surfaces.
- Highly organized, reliable, and punctual, with a strong sense of accountability.
- Maintains a calm, solution-driven attitude in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and remain standing for extended periods.
- Must be flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work occasional extended hours, including overnight, and weekends, when necessary.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
