Position Overview

We are seeking dependable Finishing Operators to join a leading manufacturing team producing high-quality abrasive and ceramic products. This position is responsible for setting up and operating multiple production machines and using hand tools to perform repetitive, high-volume finishing operations. Products range from initial shaping through final finishing and require close attention to quality and safety standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with manufacturing, machine operation, machining, fabrication, or industrial production experience who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate multiple finishing machines and production equipment.

  • Perform grinding, cutting to dimension, dressing, speed testing, balancing, and small sandblasting operations.

  • Select machine tooling according to work orders and production specifications.

  • Make machine adjustments to ensure proper operation and product quality.

  • Load and unload materials manually or with hoists and other lifting devices.

  • Monitor machine performance and make routine adjustments as needed.

  • Trim, scrape, shape, or deburr products using hand tools such as chisels, scrapers, and other finishing equipment.

  • Inspect finished products using templates, dimensional measurements, and speed testing to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Record production and processing data using written documentation and computer systems.

  • Follow work orders, machine instructions, and supervisor direction while maintaining production efficiency.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Products You'll Work With

Operators may manufacture and finish products including:

  • Abrasive wheels

  • Abrasive segments

  • Ceramic finishing products

  • Kiln furniture

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Technical school training, apprenticeship, or equivalent manufacturing experience is preferred.

  • Previous experience operating manufacturing equipment or industrial machinery is preferred.

  • Experience using hand tools and power tools.

  • Ability to read and follow work orders and written instructions.

  • Basic computer skills for recording production information.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Ability to work independently after completing training.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

  • Frequently use hands for handling tools, materials, and finished products.

  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

  • Lift heavier materials using hoists or mechanical lifting devices.

  • Occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl.

  • Maintain visual attention to detail while performing repetitive production tasks.

Work Environment

This position is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment where employees can expect:

  • Seasonal temperature changes.

  • Exposure to dust, moving machinery, and moderate industrial noise.

  • Occasional exposure to airborne particles and manufacturing fumes.

  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including:

    • Safety glasses

    • Hearing protection

    • Gloves

    • Steel-toe or safety shoes

    • Protective clothing

Schedule

  • 1st Shift

  • Monday – Friday

  • 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM

  • 40 hours per week

  • 30-minute lunch

Additional Information

  • 2 openings available

  • Paid training provided. Most employees become fully proficient within approximately three months.

  • Candidates must complete the required math assessment before being considered.

  • Interview required.

  • W-2 Contract Position.
