Finishing Operator I
Location: Worcester, MA 01606
Pay rate: $20.00 - $22.00/hr + $1.50/hr Shift Differential
Duration: 4-Month Contract with possible extension
Schedule: 2:00 PM 10:30 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a Finishing Operator I to support manufacturing operations by setting up and operating finishing equipment and performing repetitive, high-volume production activities. This role involves grinding, cutting, dressing, speed testing, sandblasting, and finishing manufactured products while maintaining quality and production standards.

The ideal candidate will have manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate finishing equipment and machinery used in production processes.
  • Perform grinding, cutting, dressing, speed testing, and sandblasting operations.
  • Load and unload materials and workpieces manually or using lifting devices when required.
  • Select appropriate tooling and equipment based on work orders and production requirements.
  • Adjust machine settings and controls to ensure proper operation and product quality.
  • Monitor machine performance and make minor adjustments as needed.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality and specification requirements are met.
  • Trim, scrape, shape, or deburr products using hand and power tools.
  • Record production and processing information accurately using forms and computer systems.
  • Follow work orders, machine instructions, and supervisor guidance to complete production tasks.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or production experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate machinery and hand tools safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow work instructions.
  • Ability to perform repetitive production tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and production documentation.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience operating production or finishing equipment.
  • Experience with grinding, cutting, sanding, deburring, or related manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with quality inspections and production documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle production materials.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around machinery and equipment.

Schedule & Compensation

  • 2:00 PM 10:30 PM Shift
  • $20.00 - $22.00/hr
  • Additional $1.50/hr Shift Differential
  • 4-Month Contract
