Finishing Operator

Pay rate: $20.00- $22.00/hr
Hours: 1:30pm- 10:00pm
Location: Worcester, MA
Duration: 6 months

SUMMARY
Finishing Operator I sets up and operates multiple machines or uses hand tools for repetitive and high production finishing operations to include grinding, cutting to dimensions, dressing, speed testing and small sandblasting. Product handled may be in forms ranging from initial shaping to final finishing.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required of the Finishing Operator I.

Materials & Products

• Works with and transforms manufactured products including Abrasives wheels, Abrasive Segments Ceramic finish, and Kiln furniture.

Equipment

• Selects machine tooling to be used following clear, well-defined work orders.
• Makes necessary adjustments to set up and control a limited variety of production equipment/machinery using hand or power tools.
• Moves machine controls to position to set up work pieces and adjusts machines for pre-selected operational settings.
• Responsible to push start and stop buttons on finishing equipment, (i.e., sandblaster, speed tester, balancer) to finish high production product.
• Observes machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary adjustments to correct problems. Transfers equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas using moving devices when applicable.
• May trim, scrape, shape, or deburr objects or parts, using chisels, scrapers, and other hand tools.

Procedures

• Works from work orders, machine instruction, supervisor, and/or Finishing Operator II s direction to determine product specifications, tool/equipment requirements or operational sequence required for the job.
• Loads or unloads material or work piece manually or with hoists into machinery.
• Records product and processing data on specified forms and computers.
• Quality of finished work pieces verified by inspection by supervisor or Finishing Operator II,
