Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Fintube Machine Operator to join a specialized manufacturing operation in Tulsa. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining McElroy No. 5 finning machines used to manufacture finned tubes for air cooler applications.
The ideal candidate has previous machine operation experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work from blueprints and production documentation. This role produces both L-Foot and Embedded fintubes and requires close attention to machine setup, dimensional accuracy, product quality, and safe equipment operation.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous industrial machine operation experience required
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and production documentation
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Experience using measuring tools, gauges, and hand tools
Ability to set up and adjust manufacturing equipment according to specifications
Strong attention to dimensional accuracy and product quality
Ability to work independently and maintain production schedules
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Ability to work safely in a safety-sensitive manufacturing environment
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate McElroy finning machines to manufacture finned tubes
Produce L-Foot and Embedded fintubes according to engineering specifications
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and shop travelers
Determine proper tooling, fixtures, and materials for assigned production runs
Set up and align machinery using hand tools, gauges, and measuring equipment
Adjust equipment to meet required drawing and dimensional specifications
Change machine components according to tube size, fin height, and fin type
Load and unload tubes and fin strip coils onto payoff feeders
Monitor machine operation throughout production runs
Troubleshoot equipment issues and make adjustments to maintain product quality
Perform in-process inspections and measurements
Verify finished products meet required specifications
Load completed fintubes onto racks for movement to other departments
Assist with inventory control of spare parts and fin strip materials
Complete production jobs within established timeframes
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow all company safety procedures and maintain constant safety awareness
Machine Setup & Technical Responsibilities
Candidates should be comfortable performing or learning:
McElroy No. 5 finning machine setup and operation
L-Foot fintube production
Embedded fintube production
Tooling and fixture selection
Tube size and fin height changeovers
Fin strip coil loading
Machine alignment and adjustment
Blueprint and shop traveler interpretation
Dimensional inspection and quality verification
Mechanical troubleshooting and production adjustments
Preferred Qualifications
Previous fintube manufacturing experience
Experience operating McElroy finning machines
Air cooler or heat exchanger manufacturing experience
Machine setup and changeover experience
Advanced blueprint reading skills
Mechanical troubleshooting experience
Experience performing precision quality inspections
Bilingual English/Spanish skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50+ lbs
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a 10-hour shift
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and material handling
Ability to safely load tubes and fin strip materials into production equipment
Manual dexterity required for machine setup, tooling, and measurement
Ability to safely work around moving industrial machinery while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing and fintube production facility
Regular operation of specialized finning machinery and production equipment
Hands-on work involving tubes, fin strip coils, tooling, gauges, and machine components
Safety-sensitive environment requiring consistent awareness around moving machinery
Four-day MondayThursday schedule with Friday and Saturday overtime available as production needs require
