Job Description Job Description Role: Fire Alarm CAD DesignerEmployment Type: Full-TimeLocation: Houston, TXJob Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented Fire Alarm CAD Designer with strong AutoCAD experience to develop code-compliant fire alarm system layouts, riser diagrams, and construction documents for commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and multifamily projects. The ideal candidate will have strong fire alarm design knowledge, experience with NFPA codes, and the ability to coordinate with engineers, project managers, electricians, AHJs, and field personnel throughout the project lifecycle.Key Responsibilities:Design fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, IFC, and local code requirementsCreate and revise fire alarm layouts, riser diagrams, device placement drawings, and sequence of operations using AutoCADPrepare permit and construction drawing packages for installation and submittalsCoordinate system designs with architectural, electrical, structural, and mechanical drawingsReview project specifications, bid documents, and customer requirementsPerform voltage drop, battery standby, and circuit loading calculationsSelect fire alarm devices, panels, and related system components based on project requirementsSupport project managers and field technicians during installation, commissioning, and inspectionsRespond to AHJ comments and revise drawings accordinglyMaintain drawing accuracy, project documentation, and drafting standardsParticipate in project coordination and design review meetingsRequired Qualifications:4+ years of AutoCAD experience2+ years of fire alarm system design experienceAssociate's Degree requiredStrong working knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire/life safety codesExperience preparing fire alarm shop drawings and permit submittalsAbility to read and interpret architectural and electrical construction drawingsExperience performing voltage drop, battery standby, and circuit loading calculationsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWork Environment:Office-based design and drafting environmentCoordination with project managers, field technicians, contractors, and AHJsFast-paced project-driven environment with multiple deadlinesBenefits:Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Paid Vacation, Paid Holidays, 401KCompany Description W3Global was established in 2006 in Fremont, CA with a vision: simplify the recruiting process and develop an industry-disrupting platform to connect candidates with clients.
