Tesla is seeking a Fire Alarm Engineer for the Infrastructure Engineering team. This role is ideal for a NICET II+ installer/programmer with a strong background in commercial and manufacturing projects, and a proven track record of working on projects from kickoff through construction, quality design and Certificate of Occupancy. A successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, code-compliant fire alarm systems across a variety of sites and projects.
- Development and coordination of fire alarm systems for Tesla facilities.
- Project initiation phase by collaborating with a variety of teams to define scope, design criteria, schedule and cost
- Developing bid level documentation including equipment specifications
- Assist in developing RFP/RFQ documents for project scoping and pricing
- Review designs to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NFPA, and local jurisdictional requirements
- Mnaging 3rd party consultants or subcontractors in support of construction activities including but not limited to submittal review, RFI responses, and field surveys.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience preferred
- Preferred certified NICET II or above in the United States or Fire Alarm Installer/Programmer
- 6+ years of experience in fire system development/engineering (fire suppression or fire alarm), with a strong focus on commercial and manufacturing projects
- Experience working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects from kickoff, through construction, commissioning, acceptance testing, and documentation
- Strong knowledge of building codes, design standards, and industry best practices
- Anticipate minimal travel (5-10%)
