Fire Alarm Service Tech- Travel (TX)

Job Summary

We have an immediate opening for a Fire Alarm Service Technician. This position is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations. The Fire Alarm Service Technician plays a critical role in safeguarding lives and property by conducting thorough inspections, performing required maintenance, troubleshooting systems, and providing expert service to customers.

Position Details

• Travel: Up to 100% travel throughout Texas
• Reporting Location: Wilmington, NC office
• This is a full-time traveling field technician position supporting client locations throughout the Texas market.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm components, including control panels, detectors, horns, strobes, and annunciators.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, test results, deficiencies, and compliance issues in accordance with NFPA codes and standards.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions and perform repairs involving wiring, circuitry, devices, and software.
• Respond to service calls and emergency requests, diagnosing problems and restoring system functionality.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including cleaning, calibration, and battery replacement.
• Accurately document service activities, including inspection reports, work orders, parts usage, and customer notes.
• Work closely with sales personnel to provide detailed inspection reports, material requirements, and job-related notes to assist with repair estimates.
• Interact professionally with customers to schedule work, discuss inspection findings, address concerns, and provide recommendations for system upgrades or improvements.
• Coordinate with service coordinators regarding work orders, materials, scheduling, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following all applicable safety procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Technical or vocational training in fire alarm systems or a related field preferred.
• 3 years of experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial environments.
• Valid Texas-specific license(s).
• NICET certification strongly preferred.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Texas.
• Strong knowledge of fire alarm codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA 72 and applicable building and fire codes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor environments.
• Ability to work in environments that may include noise, dust, heat, low-light conditions, heights, and other challenging conditions.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces while using appropriate fall protection and safety equipment.
• Ability to use hand and power tools, including tools used for cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening, and other applications involving torque, vibration, and noise.
