TradeSTAR is currently hiring experienced Fire Alarm Technicians for multiple commercial projects in the San Marcos area. These opportunities are with established low voltage and life safety contractors seeking technicians with strong technical troubleshooting skills, installation experience, and code knowledge.
We are looking for professionals ranging from entry-level Fire Alarm Helpers to advanced Lead Technicians, Foremen, and Project-Level specialists who can support large-scale commercial installations, retrofits, service work, inspections, and system commissioning.
Job Responsibilities
Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and commission commercial fire alarm systems
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, device layouts, and sequence of operations
Install initiating devices, notification appliances, control panels, relays, power supplies, and NAC circuits
Perform point-to-point testing and verify proper system functionality
Troubleshoot ground faults, open circuits, communication faults, and device failures
Program and service addressable fire alarm systems
Conduct inspections and testing in accordance with NFPA 72 standards
Interface with inspectors, project managers, superintendents, and other trades on-site
Complete service documentation, test reports, and device verification records
Maintain safe work practices and adhere to all OSHA regulations

Qualifications
Experience in commercial fire alarm installation, service, or programming
Understanding of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 codes
Experience with addressable and conventional systems
Ability to read construction drawings and wiring schematics
Knowledge of low voltage circuitry, relays, and control systems
NICET certification is a plus
Texas Fire Alarm License is preferred for service and lead roles
Ability to work independently or as part of a project team
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
