Job Position: Fire Alarm Technician
Location: San macros, TX 78666
Pay Rate: $20-25
TradeSTAR is hiring experienced Fire Alarm Technicians for commercial installation, service, and commissioning projects throughout the San Marcos area. These positions support commercial construction, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, manufacturing sites, multifamily developments, and large-scale life safety system upgrades.
We are seeking technicians with strong experience in commercial fire alarm systems, device installation, system troubleshooting, inspections, and commissioning.
Job Responsibilities
Install, terminate, troubleshoot, and service commercial fire alarm systems
Install fire alarm control panels, annunciators, smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, monitor modules, control modules, horn/strobes, duct detectors, and relay devices
Pull and route FPL and FPLP cabling through conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, sleeves, and structured pathways
Perform device addressing, panel programming support, and system diagnostics
Troubleshoot SLC loops, NAC circuits, Class A/Class B wiring configurations, ground faults, and communication failures
Conduct inspections, testing, commissioning, and final acceptance testing in accordance with project requirements
Read and interpret riser diagrams, wiring schematics, sequence of operations, device layouts, and fire alarm submittals
Verify operation of integrated systems including elevator recall, smoke control, door release interfaces, and suppression system monitoring
Complete inspection reports, service documentation, deficiency reports, and as-built updates
Coordinate with inspectors, project managers, superintendents, and other trades on active commercial projects
Technical Requirements
2+ years of commercial fire alarm installation or service experience
Experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC requirements, and commercial life safety standards
Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm control panels, field devices, and system communication issues
Experience reading blueprints, riser diagrams, and technical drawings
Understanding of low-voltage wiring methods and life safety system integration
Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required
