Job Overview:
HFC is seeking to fill the position of Fire and Building Code Inspector 2 (Fire and Building Code Inspector 1, if candidate is not certified). Candidates hired as a Fire and Building Code Inspector 1, will undergo 12 continuous months of training and, upon certification and satisfactory performance, will be reclassified as a Fire and Building Code Inspector 2, which includes a pay raise.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials:
Trains to inspect and witnesses the installation and testing of fire protection or fire detection systems, construction components, etc., to verify that such systems and components are installed in accordance with appropriate state/federal laws, codes, regulations, standards, and department rules.
Studies, prepares, and obtains a federal certification through the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) within one year of hire
Maintains and operates an assigned work vehicle for the performance of job duties
Under close supervision, learns the inspection process for complaint/unusual incident investigations, annual surveys of licensed facilities, and construction inspections
Under close supervision, learns how to access and utilize required department programs, examples of Edison, ACTS, ACO, etc.,
Under close supervision, learns how to conduct follow up inspections
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
Must obtain and maintain a fire inspector certification within one year of hire
Possess capability to attend and complete on- and off-site training courses and any certification required by the department
