Overview
Fire Deputy Chief Waterford Facility
The Fire Deputy Chief of the EB Waterford Facility is a salaried position working Monday through Friday during normal business hours as part of a command staff for the Electric Boat Fire Department. The Fire Deputy Chief will be responsible for being the on-location subject matter expert for the fire department. This position requires a team player who has excellent communications skills and can work with both internal and external departments.
The Deputy Fire Chief will be required to attend meetings, provide guidance, and be a liaison to support the facility during the construction phase through completion. He or she will assist EB Facilities and other departments with plans development and plans review for local, state and federal compliance. He or she should have a thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements, best practices and code compliance for fire alarm and fire protection systems, have KSAs to perform life safety inspections. The Deputy Chief will also be required to evaluate and perform risk assessments for hot-work, issue permits (when required), provide knowledge and training to EB employees, establish fire and safety plans, conduct evacuation drills and exercises.
This position works under the direction and guidance of the Manager of Fire & Emergency Preparedness and the EB Fire Chief located in the Groton Shipyard. The Deputy Fire Chief will respond when on duty to both emergency and non-emergency incidents, make notifications to the proper authority having jurisdiction, render first aid, respond and perform limited mitigating actions involving fire, rescue, hazardous material incidents and medical emergencies. He or she may be required to establish incident command when needed, be a liaison as an integral participant of the unified command team representing Electric Boat.

This is a management level position involving the oversight and administration of the daily activities of the Waterford, Connecticut EB Facility. This may include working at a high-performance level individually and with subordinates who are assigned to this location.
