The Greensboro Fire Department is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Fire Lube Technician to perform preventive maintenance and mechanical service on the Departments fleet of fire apparatus and emergency response vehicles. This position is critical to ensuring firefighters have safe, dependable, and properly maintained equipment whenever duty calls.

About the Role:
The Fire Lube Technician performs preventive maintenance, inspections, and mechanical service on fire apparatus and medium- and heavy-duty emergency vehicles in accordance with NFPA 1071 standards. This position helps maximize fleet reliability through scheduled maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, documentation, and mechanical repairs that ensure emergency equipment is always ready to respond.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
"OR" an equivalent of an ASE Medium/Heavy Duty Truck T8 Preventative Maintenance Inspection Certification "AND" less than one year of related experience in fleet maintenance (e.g., inspect, diagnose, and/or locate mechanical difficulties on automobiles, trucks, and a variety of gasoline- and/or diesel-powered maintenance and construction equipment)
Valid Class C Drivers License
1+ years of preventative maintenance experience in Fleet service vehicles (e.g., inspecting, diagnosing, and/or locating mechanical difficulties on commercial trucks, hydraulic motors, a variety of gasoline- and/or diesel-powered maintenance and construction equipment).
Class A Drivers License
("OR" the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date)
NC Inspection License
("OR" the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire date)
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills (e.g., identifying critical chassis parts like ball joints, tie rods, air brake lines, and U-joints during a routine under-vehicle grease job, etc.)
