Role Overview:

Responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems to ensure they function properly and comply with applicable codes and safety standards. This role plays a critical part in life safety by identifying deficiencies, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes
  • Identify deficiencies, impairments, or code violations and clearly document findings
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and communicate results to clients, supervisors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ)
  • Conduct functional testing of system components including valves, alarms, and flow devices
  • Coordinate with service and installation teams to ensure deficiencies are resolved
  • Maintain inspection tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good condition
  • Keep up to date with changes in codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in fire sprinkler inspection, installation, or service
  • NICET certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems

 

Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 25 and related fire protection codes
  • Ability to read and interpret system drawings and inspection reports
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and customer service abilities

 

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to high and low temperatures
  • Exposure to noise and dust
  • Must be able to bend, climb, and work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, or working in awkward positions

 

Other:

  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record
