GENERALDESCRIPTION:
A professionalpositionresponsible for the preventionandextinguishment of fires, the protection andsavingoflifeandproperty,and the enforcement ofCountyand State firepreventioncodes,as wellasany law pertaining to thepreventionandcontroloffires.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Responds to fireand EMScallswith a fire companyandperformsfire/EMS/rescuedutiesasassignedorassumed.
- Rescuesand removes personsfrom danger.
- Operatesvariouspiecesof fire apparatusandequipment to extinguishfires.
- Ventilatesburningbuildings to ejectsmoke,heat,andgases.
- Performssalvageandoverhauloperationsat firescenes.
- Performscleaningandmaintenancetasksondepartment buildingsandequipment.
- Performsfirehydrant maintenance
- Performsannualtestingandinspectionof firehose.
- Attendstraininginsubjectspertinent to firefighting, fireinspections, equipment operation, emergencymedicaltreatment, andother relatedareas.
- Promotesandconductspubliceducationprogramsasdirected.
- Makesperiodicvisits to building to conduct pre-fireplanning.
- ProvidesBasicLifeSupport care(incompliancewithChapter401, FloridaStaturesandChapter 10D-66, FloridaAdministrativeCode) according to the establishedCounty EMSProceduresManualandapplicableprotocolsandstandingorders, to the personinneed of medicalattention.
- Administerspre-hospitalemergencyrescueandmedicalservicesallowedwithin the scope oftraining.
- Assists the EMTand/or Paramedic.
- Handlesemergency andnon-emergencypatient transfersasassigned,includingbothin-county andout-of-county.
- Completesnecessarywrittenreports,includingfire, patient reports, patientbills,anddailyteam andunit reportsin a timely,accuratefashion.
- Cleansandmaintainsapparatusandequipmenton a dailybasis,includingmaintainingrequiredinventory ofambulancesupplies, medicaland life support equipment,fireandrescueequipment. Keepsassignedstationclean.
- Maintains a professionaland safe unit andworkareaadhering to establishedsafetypoliciesand the imagedesired for the organization.
- ConsistentlyfollowsBoardpoliciesandprocedures.
- Respondsproductively to changeandperformsallother tasksas directed.
- Works productivelywithallpersonnelthroughout the chainofcommand.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE:
Graduation from highschoolorpossessionofanacceptableequivalencydiploma.
LICENSES,CERTIFICATIONS, ORREGISTRATIONS:
Mustpossessand maintain a validFloridadrivers’license. FloridaFirefighter IICertificate ofcompliancerequired. MaintaincurrentState ofFloridaor NationalregistryEMT, 16-hourEmergencyVehicleOperation(EVOCorCEVO), andCurrentCPR/AED for HealthCareProvider (BLS).
OTHERJOB-RELATEDREQUIREMENTS:
